1) Does the Schlage 35-223 come as cut keys or uncut blanks?
Uncut. The 35-223 is a pair of standard bow key blanks on Schlage's C keyway, gold plated and embossed on both faces, supplied in a velvet case. A blank has no cuts in it, so a locksmith or any counter that duplicates Schlage C keys has to cut them to your existing key before they will turn a cylinder. Bring the key you want copied.
2) Will Schlage C keyway blanks work in the locks already on my doors?
Only where those cylinders are conventional 5-pin C keyway. C is the everyday Schlage keyway found on standard cylinders, and the quickest check is the key already on your ring: if it is a Schlage key with five cuts on the C profile, the 35-223 blanks will take the same bitting. Cylinders on Schlage's Everest or Primus keyway systems use a different blade profile and will not accept a C blank at all.
3) Can a 5-pin C blank be cut for a 6-pin Schlage cylinder?
No, and this is where people waste a trip. A five-pin blank carries five chambers worth of blade; a six-pin cylinder needs a six-pin blank in its own keyway. The 35-223 blanks are 5-pin C, so they belong in conventional 5-pin C cylinders. For a six-pin opening you need a blank matched to that cylinder's keyway and pin count instead.
4) Is the velvet case included with the Schlage 35-223, or is it sold separately?
Included. The 35-223 is sold as a set: two standard bow gold plated blanks presented in the velvet case. You are not buying the case on its own, and you are not adding the blanks to it separately. Two blanks, one case, one part number.
