1) How does a storeroom function lock actually behave - is the outside lever always locked?
Outside lever on the ALX80 is fixed at all times and there is no way to leave it unlocked. A key in the outside cylinder retracts the latch for entry, and the inside lever is always free so anyone inside can walk out without a key. 2) Do I need to specify handing when I order a Schlage ALX80 lever?
No handing to specify. The ALX80 is non-handed, so the same lock works on a left or right hand door and you do not have to survey every opening before writing the order. For a property manager buying a dozen at once, that removes the most common ordering mistake on lever locks.
3) Can the Schlage ALX80 be keyed into my existing Schlage master key system or take an interchangeable core?
