Schlage Commercial 09-664 Armor Front, L Series, Latch x Deadbolt

1-3/4 inch doors. That's the standard commercial door thickness, so on a typical hollow metal or solid core commercial opening the front sits correctly against the lock case. On a thinner 1-3/8 inch door you'd be working outside what this part is specified for.

The front measures 1-1/4 inches. That's the width of the standard L Series mortise prep, so it covers the edge cut on a door already routed for an L9010, L9040 or L9044. If the door edge was prepped for a wider front, this one won't hide the cut.

Just the armor front, the stainless plate that goes on the door edge over the mortise case. It's a replacement part, not a lock. If your L9010, L9040 or L9044 case itself is failing, you need the mortise lock body; the 09-664 only replaces a damaged, mismatched, or wrong-finish front.

Eleven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 matte black, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 629 bright stainless steel, 630 satin stainless steel, and 643E aged bronze. Armor fronts are finish specific, so order the code that matches the lever trim already on the door rather than a close visual match.

For the visible edge plate, yes. The 09-664 comes in all eleven Schlage finish codes, so you can bring the door edges on L9010, L9040 and L9044 openings into line with new lever trim by swapping fronts alone, without pulling the mortise cases. The lever trim and cylinder faces are separate parts and need to be matched separately.

Stainless steel, which is what you want on the door edge where the front takes strike contact and cleaning chemicals. For high-traffic institutional openings, schools, hospitals, multi-family corridors, that's the material that holds up rather than a plated pot metal cover.

Commercial. It belongs to the Schlage L Series mortise line, which is commercial mortise hardware, and it's dimensioned for 1-3/4 inch doors. It has no application on a residential bored-lock door.
