Schlage N523-002 Blank Plate, ND25

Not reliably. The N523-002 is a Schlage service part meant to sit on Schlage prep, not a universal hole cover. An oversized or odd cutout left behind by another manufacturer's lock is a job for a wrap plate or filler plate sized to that hole. Use the blank plate on a door already prepped for the Schlage lock it belongs to.

Compatibility on the N523-002 blank plate is listed for the Schlage B250 and B500 Series, so those are the families to order it against. Order the plate in the same finish as the lock it is going onto, because these Schlage parts are finish specific and are not finished in the field.

Eight finishes are offered on the N523-002: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 609 antique brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 622 matte black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Schlage parts of this kind are finish specific, so the finish is chosen at the time of order rather than applied later. If the rest of the building runs 626 satin chrome, order the 626 plate and it will read the same as the other openings.

Genuine Schlage. The N523-002 is sold as a Schlage replacement part, not an aftermarket copy, and it is specified for commercial openings rather than residential. For anyone standardizing a portfolio or a facility on Schlage, that is the point of buying it: the plate comes out of the same parts program as the lock it goes on.

No. A blank plate has no cylinder hole and no provision to add one, so there is nothing to key and nothing to cam. If that side of the door needs to lock or unlock from outside, the blank plate has to come off and outside trim with a cylinder prep goes on instead. Specify the N523-002 only where the outside face is meant to stay dead.
