The Schlage NDE mobile enabled wireless cylindrical lock is designed to affordably extend electronic access control deeper into the building beyond traditional perimeter and high security openings. Schlage NDE locks can function in offline or No-Tour mode or as a networked lock with either periodic check-ins or real-time management.

1) Will the Schlage NDEB wireless lock fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes. The NDEB cylindrical lock covers doors from 1-5/8 to 2 inches thick, so a standard 1-3/4 inch commercial door sits in the middle of the range. Doors thinner than 1-5/8 inches, like the 1-3/8 inch interior doors common in older buildings, are outside what this lock will mount on.
2) Do I have to specify handing when I order a Schlage NDEB electronic lock?
No handing to specify. The NDEB is non-handed, so one part number works on a left or right hand door, inswing or outswing. That is what makes it easy to stock a few spares across a building without tracking which opening each one came off.
3) What strike comes with the Schlage NDEB lock, and will it drop into an existing ANSI strike prep?
The NDEB ships with strike 47267101, an ANSI strike with a door position switch, 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inches with a 1-3/16 inch lip. That is the standard ANSI/ASA frame cutout, so an opening already prepped for a 4-7/8 by 1-1/4 strike takes it without reworking the frame. The door position switch in the strike is what lets the lock report door open/closed status back to the access control system, so do not substitute a plain strike if you want that monitoring.
4) Can the Schlage NDEB work standalone, or does it need to be on a network?
Either way. The NDE lock runs offline or in No-Tour mode, or as a networked lock with periodic check-ins or real-time management through an ENGAGE Gateway. You can start it standalone with updates pushed at the door from a mobile device, and move to fully networked later without changing the lock. Real-time gateway communication runs RS-485 to an access control panel or IP to a host.
5) What credentials does the Schlage NDEB read, and will it work with the prox cards we already issue?
The NDEB reads Bluetooth and NFC mobile credentials plus smart and proximity cards, so an existing prox or smart card population keeps working while you phase in phone credentials. Smart and prox verify in a second or less; mobile depends on the phone. The lock also gives red, amber and green LED feedback plus a field-configurable audible indicator at the door.
6) Is the Schlage NDEB rated for a fire door?
The NDEB carries UL 10C along with ANSI/BHMA A156.25-2013 and A156.2-2011 Series 4000, Grade 1, and UL 294 for access control. UL 10C is the positive pressure fire door test standard. It also meets ADA and ICC ANSI A117.1 for accessibility, which matters on institutional openings where the lever has to be operable without tight grasping.
7) Does the SFIC construction core mean I can use my building's existing interchangeable core keyway?
The NDEBBD comes with a small format interchangeable core, supplied as a construction core with 2 keys. A construction core is meant to be pulled once the job is turned over and replaced with your permanent SFIC core, so the lock joins whatever SFIC keyway your facility already keys to. On the order you pick KD keyed different, KA keyed alike for a group of openings, or None if you are supplying your own cores.
8) Do I have to buy Allegion software to run these locks, or can they go on the access control system I already have?
Both are supported. The NDE's open architecture lets it be managed by Allegion software or integrated into a physical access control system through the PACS Alliance program. It also coexists in the same EAC system with other Schlage wireless hardware including Schlage Control, AD-400 and LE, so a building already running those does not need a second system to add NDE openings.
9) I need an electronic cylindrical lock for a thinner 1-3/8 inch door. What are my options?
The NDEB will not mount there, its range starts at 1-5/8 inches. Of the electronic cylindrical locks in the same family, the Kwikset 912TNL SmartCode Z-Wave lever covers 1-3/8 to 2 inches, and the Lockey E985 and E995 keypad lever locks cover 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches. Those are lighter-duty solutions than a Grade 1 wireless lock, but they physically fit the opening.
