This is the flush version, for boxes recessed into a finished wall. A flush cover overlaps the wall opening around the box so the drywall edge is hidden, and the door sits proud of the wall surface. A surface cover is sized to the box itself and is used when the enclosure is mounted on the face of the wall. They are not interchangeable, so confirm how the box was set before ordering.
3) Can I use this cover outdoors or in a wash-down area?
No. It is a NEMA Type 1 cover, which is indoor use only: protection against incidental contact with the live parts inside and against falling dirt. It offers no rating for rain, hose-down, dust, or corrosive locations. For an exterior wall or a damp mechanical room you need a Type 3R or Type 4 enclosure and its matching front instead.
4) I'm replacing a damaged panel front in an occupied building. Is the interior or any circuit hardware included?
No. This is the front cover only, the panel front piece that closes the enclosure. The box, the interior with its bus and breaker mounting, the breakers and any directory card are separate. If the panel itself is intact and only the front was damaged, this is the part you order.
