Metallics JTMP69 Screw 10-32 x 1-1/4 Truss PH MS St-Z (Jar 100)

The JTMP69 is a 10-32 x 1-1/4 inch machine screw with a truss (oval binding) head and a Phillips drive. The 10-32 callout means a #10 diameter with 32 threads per inch, so it mates with 10-32 tapped holes and 10-32 nuts, not with sheet metal or wood.

10-32 is the standard thread used for ground screws and device mounting in steel outlet boxes, enclosures and panels, so the JTMP69 threads into those tapped 10-32 holes. At 1-1/4 inches of length it is longer than a typical box ground screw, which suits stacking a ground lug, bonding jumper or spacer, but it will bottom out or protrude where only a short screw is wanted.

A truss head is wider and lower in profile than a pan or round head, so it spreads the clamping load over a bigger area and sits closer to flush. That makes it the better pick when you are holding down a thin bracket, cover, strap or oversized hole where a pan head would pull through or stand too tall. If you need the head to seat flush into a countersink, you want a flat head instead, not the JTMP69.

These are steel screws with a zinc plating (the St-Z in the callout). Zinc plate handles dry interior and protected locations fine. For wet, exterior or corrosive settings, zinc-plated steel is the wrong choice and stainless is the material to specify.

It depends on your hole. A machine screw has a uniform straight thread, so it needs either a tapped 10-32 hole in the part or a 10-32 nut on the back side. It will not form its own thread in unthreaded metal the way a self-tapping or sheet metal screw does. Nuts are not included with the jar of 100.
