Metallics JSS3234SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are these Metallics set screws stainless steel?
Yes, 18-8 stainless. That's the austenitic 300-series grade used for general corrosion resistance, so these suit damp or outdoor-adjacent electrical work where a plain steel set screw would rust.
2) Is the JSS3234SS a cup point set screw or a flat point?
Cup point. The JSS3234SS is a socket set screw with a cup point, which bites into the mating shaft or part and holds against rotation. If you need to clamp without marring the surface, a cup point is the wrong choice and you'd want a flat or nylon-tipped point instead.
3) What driver do I need for the JSS3234SS screw?
A hex key. It's a socket set screw, so it drives from an internal hex socket in the end of the screw, not from an external head. There's no slot or Phillips recess on it.
4) How many screws come in a jar of Metallics JSS3234SS?
100 pieces per jar. The pack type is a jar rather than a box, which is the usual format for keeping small loose fasteners together on a service truck or in a shop bin.
