Metallics JSHCZ14112 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What drive does the JSHCZ14112 screw take, and what tool do I need?
SHCS means socket head cap screw, so it's driven with a hex key (Allen wrench) in the recessed socket, not a screwdriver. A 1/4-20 socket head cap screw takes a 3/16 inch hex key.
2) Are these Metallics cap screws zinc plated, and can I use them outdoors?
They're steel with a zinc plating, which is a general-purpose indoor and protected-location finish. Zinc plated steel will corrode in wet, coastal, or chemically aggressive environments, so for exposed exterior work or wash-down areas specify stainless instead.
3) How many screws come in a jar of Metallics JSHCZ14112?
100 pieces per jar. It ships as a jar pack rather than loose count or a bulk box, which is the format most electricians keep on the truck for restocking a bin.
4) What is the Metallics part number for the 1/4-20 x 1-1/2 zinc socket head cap screw?
Order it as Metallics JSHCZ14112. That number covers the 1/4-20 x 1-1/2 steel zinc socket head cap screw in the 100 piece jar.
