Metallics JSS612 Screw 6-32 x 1/2 SKT S-Scr Cup St-Bl (Jar 100)

The JSS612 is a 6-32 x 1/2 inch socket set screw with a cup point, in black steel, packed 100 to a jar. Socket drive means you set it with a hex key, not a screwdriver, and the cup point bites into the mating shaft or part to resist loosening.

Cup point, which is what the JSS612 uses, has a hollow ring-shaped tip that digs a shallow bite into the mating surface. It is the general purpose choice for holding a collar, knob, or fitting on a shaft where some surface marring is acceptable. A flat point is what you want when the part has to be repositioned repeatedly without scarring the shaft, and a cone point is for a permanent set into a drilled detent.

It ships as a jar of 100 pieces, not as a single screw. That is the pack an electrician or MRO stockroom buys for the service truck or the fastener bin when 6-32 set screws get consumed a few at a time across many jobs.

These are black steel. The dark oxide-style finish is the normal commercial finish for socket set screws and is fine for dry interior use inside enclosures, panels, and fixture hardware. For wet or exterior locations where corrosion is a concern, specify a plated or stainless set screw instead.
