Metallics JSTPO3 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is an 18-8 stainless screw okay for outdoor or damp locations?
18-8 stainless is an austenitic 300-series grade and holds up in wet and outdoor exposure far better than zinc-plated steel, which is why the #8 x 1 inch JSTPO3 gets used on exterior cover plates, marine and coastal work, and damp commercial interiors. In heavy chloride or salt-spray service, 316 stainless is the step up.
2) What part number do I order for Metallics oval head Phillips stainless screws, #8 x 1 inch?
Order Metallics MPN JSTPO3. That part number covers the #8 x 1 inch oval head Phillips 18-8 stainless screw in the 100-count jar, and it is the only configuration carried under that number, so there is no length or finish option to specify with it.
3) How many Metallics JSTPO3 screws come in a jar?
They ship 100 screws to a jar, packaged as a jar rather than a bulk box, which is the format most electricians and maintenance techs keep on the truck or on a shelf for pulls of a few at a time. Order quantities are in jars of 100, so a job needing 250 screws takes three.
