Metallics JSH2 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What are Metallics JSH2 screw hooks used for on an electrical job?
These are open screw hooks for suspending light loads off wood framing, drop ceilings' wood members, or blocking, most often for temporary lighting strings, drop cords, and routing cable or small conduit runs. They thread directly into wood, no anchor or fastener hardware needed, and the open hook lets you drop a line in and lift it back out without unthreading anything.
2) Are zinc-plated screw hooks OK for outdoor or damp locations?
The JSH2 carries a zinc plating over steel, which is a corrosion coating meant for dry interior work. For exposed exterior runs, wash-down areas, or coastal sites, specify a stainless or hot-dip galvanized hook instead; zinc plating will eventually rust through in standing moisture.
3) What part number do I order for the Metallics 3-3/8 inch screw hook?
Order Metallics JSH2. That is the only model on the item, and it covers the 3-3/8 x .192 zinc-plated steel hook supplied 100 per jar.
