Metallics THS3B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are the THS3B screws sharp point or self-drilling for metal studs?
They're listed as sharp point, which is the type intended for wood framing and light-gauge applications where the point can pierce on its own. For heavier-gauge steel studs, a self-drilling drill-point drywall screw is the correct choice instead.
2) How many screws come in a box of Metallics THS3B?
The THS3B is sold as a bulk box of 6,000 pieces, so it's a job-lot or stockroom quantity rather than a small contractor pack. Worth planning for if you only need a few hundred on a single opening or partition repair.
3) Is a trim head screw the right choice, or should I use a bugle head drywall screw?
The THS3B has a trim head, which is a smaller-diameter head that sets with minimal surface disruption, so it's the usual pick for trim, casing, and jamb work where you want the head to disappear under filler or putty. For field fastening of drywall sheets, a standard bugle head seats the paper better and is the conventional choice.
4) What is the Metallics part number I should order for the 6 x 2-1/4 drywall screw?
Order by MPN THS3B from Metallics. That number covers the #6 by 2-1/4 inch trim head, full thread, sharp point drywall screw in the 6,000 piece box.
