1) I have a 24VDC power supply but my card reader needs 12VDC. Will the SDC 12VR solve that?
That is exactly what the 12VR is built for. It takes 24VDC from your existing supply and delivers a separate 12VDC output rated at 1 Amp, so you can run a 12VDC access controller or reader off the same supply feeding your 24VDC locking hardware. No second power supply or transformer needed in the cabinet.
2) How far can I run the trigger wire to the SDC 12VR module?
Up to 1000 feet using 22 AWG wire. The isolated relay design is what makes that possible, so the trigger device (push button, REX, reader output) can sit well away from the module without voltage drop on the trigger circuit defeating it. That matters on long corridors and multi-building runs where the power supply cabinet is nowhere near the door.
3) Will the 12VR fit inside my SDC power supply cabinet?
It is a compact module measuring 3-1/4 x 2 inches, sized to drop into a standard electrical enclosure or an existing power supply cabinet. 1 Amp. Budget your 12VDC devices against that before you commit: a couple of readers and a controller board usually fit, but a 12VDC maglock or strike with real holding current can eat most of it on its own. Add up the published draw of everything you intend to hang on that output.
7) I need more than one door converted. Do I buy a 12VR for each?
