Metallics 75SNKO – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size knockout does the Metallics 75SNKO seal close off?
The 75SNKO is sized for a 3/4 inch knockout, which is the opening left behind when 3/4 inch conduit or a 3/4 inch connector is removed from a panel, box, or enclosure. It snaps into the hole from the outside, no nut or locking ring needed.
2) Do I need a locknut or any tool to install a snap-in knockout seal?
No. A snap-in seal is pushed into the empty knockout and held by its own spring tension, so you can close an opening from the outside of an energized-adjacent enclosure without reaching behind the panel for a nut. That is the main reason crews choose snap-in over a threaded plug, which needs access to both sides.
3) Are these knockout seals steel or plastic?
Steel, with a zinc finish. That matters on two counts: a steel seal keeps the enclosure's metal continuity rather than leaving a plastic spot in it, and the zinc plating resists corrosion in damp mechanical rooms. Plastic snap-in plugs are the cheaper alternative but they are not a like-for-like swap where a metal closure is required.
4) How many 3/4 inch snap-in knockout seals come in a bag?
They come 10 to a bag, and 10 is also the order minimum, so the smallest purchase is one bag of 10 pieces. For MRO stock or a panel-change job with several abandoned 3/4 inch openings, that is a single bag.
5) Are Metallics snap-in knockout seals Buy American compliant for a government job?
Metallics lists the 75SNKO as both Buy American compliant and ARRA compliant, which is what a public-sector or federally funded project submittal usually asks for on small electrical consumables. Country of origin is recorded as multiple.
