1) Does the Red Dot DALB-2-CG LB conduit body work with rigid and IMC conduit?
Yes. The DALB-2-CG is a Series A conduit body built for rigid and IMC conduit, with 3/4 inch threaded hubs. It will not thread onto EMT, so if the run is EMT you need either a set-screw or compression-style body or an EMT-to-rigid adapter at the body.
2) Does the Red Dot LB come with a cover and gasket, or do I order those separately?
Cover and gasket are both included with the DALB-2-CG, so nothing else is needed to close it up. You still supply the conduit, any bushings, and the conductors.
3) Is this LB body suitable for outdoor or wet-location use on a building exterior?
The DALB-2-CG ships with a gasketed cover, which is what keeps water out of the body at an exterior wall penetration. The casting is die cast aluminum, so it holds up outdoors better than a plain steel body. Set it with the cover accessible and the conduit threads made up tight.
4) Can I splice wires inside the Red Dot DALB-2-CG?
Conduit bodies of this type are pull and access points, not junction boxes by default. Splicing inside an LB is only permitted where the body is durably marked with its cubic inch volume and the splice fits that volume per NEC. Otherwise use it to pull through and make your splices in a box.
5) Will an aluminum conduit body cause problems on a galvanized rigid steel run?
The DALB-2-CG body is die cast aluminum. Aluminum against galvanized rigid is common practice, but in wet or corrosive locations the dissimilar metal joint is worth an anti-seize compound on the threads, which also keeps the body from seizing if it ever has to come off.
