The DAT-2-CG is built for rigid and IMC conduit, which means threaded conduit runs. It will not thread onto EMT, so if your run is EMT you need a set-screw or compression style body instead.
2) Do I need to buy a cover and gasket separately for the Red Dot DAT-2-CG?
No. The cover and gasket are included with the DAT-2-CG, so the body arrives ready to close up. You still supply the conduit, any bushings or locknuts your install calls for, and mounting hardware.
3) Is the Red Dot DAT-2-CG metal or plastic?
Die cast aluminum. That makes it lighter than a malleable iron body of the same size and a reasonable choice on exposed exterior runs where you want corrosion resistance, though aluminum should not be in direct contact with concrete or buried.

That is the normal use. A Series A T body such as the DAT-2-CG gives you a gasketed, coverable access point in a threaded rigid or IMC run for pulling conductors and for making a branch, without setting a box. Fill and splice allowances for conduit bodies are more limited than for a box, so size the work to what the body will actually hold.
