Sioux Chief 5583 CTS Copper Tube Insulator for 1/2" & 3/4" Copper Tube, US-Made

The Sioux Chief 5583 is a CTS (Copper Tube Size) copper tube insulator built for rough-in plumbing, hydronic, and mechanical piping work, available across the two most common copper tube diameters on the jobsite: 1/2" and 3/4". Manufactured in the United States and supplied in cartons of 500 EA, the 5583 line gives plumbers, service technicians, and distributors a dependable truck-stock item for high-volume installation and repair work across residential and commercial projects. Because both the 1/2" and 3/4" sizes share the same CTS design and country-of-origin quality control, crews can standardize on a single insulator family while still covering the copper tube diameters they encounter most often on a typical service call or rough-in.

Key Features

  • Trade Size Range: Offered across 1/2" and 3/4" CTS sizes to match standard copper tube dimensions used throughout plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Tube Compatibility: Designed specifically for CTS (Copper Tube Size) tubing, helping ensure a proper, secure fit around copper lines in both supported sizes.
  • Country of Origin: Manufactured in the United States for consistent quality control and dependable supply availability.
  • Bulk Packaging: Supplied in cartons of 500 EA, supporting efficient inventory management and truck-stock replenishment for contractors and distributors.

Sioux Chief 558-2 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size copper tube does the Sioux Chief 5583 tube insulator fit?
The 5583 family covers CTS (Copper Tube Size) tubing in two diameters: 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. Order the 1/2 inch as part number 558-2 and the 3/4 inch as 5583. Because it is sized to CTS, it is matched to copper tube dimensions, not to iron pipe sizes, so check whether your line is copper tube or steel pipe before you pick a size.
2) Can I buy Sioux Chief 5583 insulators by the piece or only by the carton?
The 5583 CTS insulators are supplied in bulk cartons of 500 each. That is a stocking quantity aimed at service trucks and warehouse shelves rather than a one-off repair, so if you only need a handful for a single rough-in you will still be taking a full carton.
3) Are Sioux Chief 5583 copper tube insulators made in the USA for projects with domestic sourcing requirements?
Yes, the 5583 CTS tube insulator is manufactured in the United States. That matters on government, institutional, and other jobs where domestic country of origin has to be documented on submittals.
4) What is a CTS tube insulator actually used for on a plumbing rough-in?
It wraps the copper line where it passes through or rests against framing and support points, keeping the tube isolated from the structure. On rough-in, hydronic, and mechanical piping work that isolation is what stops metal-to-wood or metal-to-metal contact at the penetration. The 5583 is used across residential and commercial plumbing, hydronic assemblies, and both new construction and renovation.
5) If I stock both 1/2 and 3/4 inch copper, can I standardize on one insulator line?
Yes. Both sizes in the 5583 family share the same CTS design, so a crew carrying 558-2 and 5583 covers the two copper diameters that show up on most service calls and rough-ins without stocking a second brand or style.
6) How much shelf or truck space does a carton of Sioux Chief 5583 insulators take?
Cubic volume is listed at 1.189 per carton of 500 each. Use that figure when you are planning truck-stock bins or pallet layouts for a bulk distributor order.
