1) What size SOSS barrel hinge do I need for a 3/4 inch thick cabinet door?
The 14mm barrel hinge is the one sized for 3/4 inch stock, which is the minimum door thickness for that size. The SOSS BH range works off minimum thickness, not a range: 8mm needs 7/16 inch, 10mm needs 1/2 inch, 12mm needs 5/8 inch, 14mm needs 3/4 inch, 16mm needs 7/8 inch, 18mm needs 1-1/8 inch, and 24mm needs 1-1/4 inch. Go thinner than the stated minimum for the size and there is not enough material around the bore to hold the barrel.
2) Can I use SOSS BH barrel hinges on a full size interior door?
No. The BH barrel hinges are rated light duty and are meant for non-load-bearing wood work: cabinetry, furniture, decorative panels, jewelry and keepsake boxes, craft doors. A hung passage door needs a load-bearing hinge, and even the largest 24mm barrel is a small concealed pivot sized to a 1-1/4 inch minimum thickness, not a door leaf. For a concealed hinge that carries a real door, look at the SOSS Invisible Hinge line instead.
3) Does the hinge show at all when the door is closed?
Nothing shows. The BH barrel hinge sits entirely inside bores drilled into the door edge and the frame or carcass, so it is concealed from both faces when closed. That is why it gets specified on display panels and box lids where a visible knuckle would spoil the piece. The trade-off is that there is no surface leaf to adjust, so the two bores have to be drilled in line.
4) What does the mm number on a SOSS BH hinge actually refer to?
