Spears P100-015 PVC DWV Coupling, Hub x Hub

The Spears PVC DWV Coupling, Hub x Hub is engineered for drain-waste-vent (DWV) piping systems, joining two lengths of PVC pipe with matching hub ends to form a secure, solvent-weld connection. Built from durable PVC for reliable, corrosion-resistant performance in residential and commercial drainage lines, this coupling is available across a broad size range — from 1-1/2" through 8" — to match standard DWV pipe runs of nearly any diameter. Every size shares the same straightforward hub x hub configuration, making this fitting a go-to solution for straight-line DWV pipe runs, repairs, and new installations. Whether you are extending an existing drain line or completing a new construction rough-in, this Spears coupling delivers consistent fit and finish from job to job.

Key Features

  • Trade Size: Available in 1-1/2", 2", 3", 4", 6", and 8" configurations to fit a broad range of standard DWV pipe diameters.
  • Durable Construction: Molded from PVC for corrosion resistance and long service life in demanding drain-waste-vent applications.
  • Hub x Hub Connection: Solvent-weld hub ends on both sides create a secure, leak-resistant joint between two lengths of pipe.
  • Lightweight & Corrosion-Resistant: PVC construction resists rust and the chemical exposure common in drain and waste lines.
  • Consistent Configuration Across Sizes: Every size option in the family shares the same hub x hub design, simplifying fitting selection for any DWV pipe run.
  • Straight-Line Design: Purpose-built for joining aligned pipe sections without changing direction, ideal for extending runs or making mid-line repairs.

Spears P100-015 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What sizes does the Spears PVC DWV hub x hub coupling come in?
Six trade sizes: 1-1/2, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 inch. Part numbers run P100-015 for 1-1/2 inch, P100-020 for 2 inch, P100-030BC for 3 inch, P100-040 for 4 inch, P100-060 for 6 inch and P100-080 for 8 inch. Size is nominal DWV pipe size, so a 3 inch coupling takes 3 inch DWV pipe on both ends. Order by the pipe you are joining, not by the outside diameter you measure.
2) How do you join a Spears DWV hub coupling to pipe, and does it need a gasket?
Both ends are solvent weld hubs, so it is a cemented joint, not gasketed and not threaded. You clean and prime the pipe end and the socket, apply DWV solvent cement, insert with a quarter turn and hold. Nothing else is supplied with the fitting: no gasket, no clamp, no cement. Buy the primer and cement separately.
3) Does the Spears P100 coupling work with ABS drain pipe?
No. It is a PVC fitting, and PVC solvent cement bonds PVC to PVC. ABS pipe will not make a sound cemented joint in a PVC socket. If the existing line is black ABS and the new work is white PVC, transition with a mechanical coupling rated for dissimilar materials rather than trying to cement the two.
4) Hub x hub coupling or a rubber no-hub repair coupling for a broken drain line?
Depends on whether you can move the pipe. A solvent weld hub x hub coupling needs the pipe ends free enough to slide into both sockets, which is fine on new runs and on a cut-out where one side has play. If both ends are captive in a wall or between fixed supports, you cannot get a hub coupling on, and a shielded rubber repair coupling or a slip repair coupling is the correct call. Where you do have movement, the cemented PVC joint is a permanent one-material joint with no band to loosen later.
5) Will a Spears PVC DWV coupling hold up in a commercial drain line with chemical waste?
PVC is the material, and it resists rust and the ordinary chemical exposure of drain and waste lines, which is why it is standard in residential and commercial drainage. It is not a chemical drainage system fitting. If a facility is running acid waste or high temperature discharge, that calls for a dedicated acid waste system in polypropylene or CPVC, not standard PVC DWV.
6) What size coupling do I need for a standard toilet drain or a main building drain?
A water closet branch is normally 3 inch, so the P100-030BC. A building drain or main stack in a larger residential or light commercial job is usually 4 inch, the P100-040. Lavatory, tub and shower branches and most vent runs are 1-1/2 or 2 inch, the P100-015 and P100-020. The 6 and 8 inch sizes are for building sewer and larger commercial mains.
7) Are Spears DWV couplings sold individually or by the case?
The 2 inch is packed 100 each per case, which is how it is set up for contractor and distributor volume on repetitive drain work. Sizes run 1-1/2 through 8 inch, and case quantity is not the same across every size, so a case of 8 inch is not a case of 100.
