The Stanley QED111ED-36-313AN commercial hardware heavy-duty exit device series to accommodate the widest range of uses. With plenty of device types, functions, and options available, you can use the QED100 in more applications. Electrified Dogging: Electrified Dogging (ED) allows continuous latch retraction and dogging simultaneously. ED requires first time mechanical activation after which the push bar will continuously hold the push bar and latch retracted. When power is removed or interrupted from the device, the latch bolt will extend and push bar will release.

1) What happens to the Stanley QED111ED exit device when power is cut?
The latch bolt extends and the push bar releases. Electrified dogging on the QED100 rim device holds the push bar and latch retracted continuously once you give it a first mechanical activation, so the door stays push-pull during business hours. Drop power or lose it, and the device relatches itself. Egress from the inside is never affected. It also has hex key dogging, so you can mechanically dog it without power if you want the door free-swinging during a move-in or an event.
2) Is the Stanley QED111ED fire rated?
No. This configuration of the QED rim device is non-fire rated, so it cannot go on a labeled fire door opening. Mechanical dogging is one reason: fire exit hardware is not permitted to have a dogging feature that holds the latch retracted. If you need hardware for a rated opening, look at a fire rated rim device such as the Delaney F9000 Series, which is listed as fire rated for a 48 inch door.
3) Will a 36 inch Stanley QED exit device fit a 32 inch door?
Yes. The 36 inch QED rim device is field sizeable down to a 32 inch door, and the 48 inch version is field sizeable down to a 36 inch door. Order by the largest door the device covers, then cut it in on site. A 36 inch door can be done either way, but the 48 inch unit is the one rated down to it.
4) What door thickness and backset does the Stanley QED111ED rim device require?
