1) Does the QET160 exit trim come with a cylinder?
No. The QET160 keyed lever trim ships less cylinder, so you order the cylinder separately. It takes a mortise cylinder, conventional (not interchangeable core), so plan on a mortise cylinder in your keyway with the correct cam for the trim.
2) How does the classroom function on this Stanley keyed lever exit trim actually work?
The key locks and unlocks the lever from the outside. Unlocked, the lever retracts the latch for free entry; locked, outside entry is refused and you must use the key. Egress is unaffected because the exit device on the inside always allows exit. It is the standard classroom behavior, which is why it is specified for corridor and classroom doors as well as office and apartment entries.
3) Can I key this Stanley exit trim into my existing master key system?
Yes, as long as your system uses conventional mortise cylinders. The trim takes a conventional mortise cylinder and is supplied without one, so you provide a cylinder cut to your existing keyway and master key setup. If your facility standardizes on interchangeable cores instead, this conventional-cylinder trim is not the match.
4) Is the Stanley QET160 a complete exit device or just the outside trim?
It is the outside trim only. The QET160 is the keyed lever escutcheon that mounts on the pull side of the door and operates the latch; the push bar hardware itself is the separate QED100, QED200 or QED300 exit device. Budget for both if you are building a new opening, or order the trim alone if you are only replacing damaged or mismatched outside hardware.
