Stanley Security QET270 E 626 LC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Stanley QET270 exit trim work on any exit device, or only Stanley's?
The QET270 night latch lever trim is made for Stanley's QED200 Series exit devices. It is not a universal trim, so if the door has a device from another maker, use the trim built for that device rather than this one.
2) What does the ANSI 03 night latch function actually do on the door?
The lever stays locked at all times from the outside. A key retracts the latch to let someone in, which works the same way a storeroom function does. Push the device from the inside and you always get out free. There is no way to leave the lever unlocked for continuous entry with this function, so if you need the outside lever to stay free during business hours, specify a different trim function.
3) Does the QET270 exit trim come with a cylinder?
No. It ships less cylinder, so you supply the cylinder yourself and key it into the building's existing system. It takes a conventional cylinder, not an interchangeable core, so order a conventional rim or mortise cylinder to match the QED200 device it is mounting to.
4) Can I use this trim on an aluminum storefront door with a narrow stile?
Yes, narrow stile is exactly what the QET270 is built for, and it is the reason the 690 painted duranodic bronze finish is offered alongside the brass and chrome options. It still has to pair with a QED200 Series device prepped for that door.
5) I need credentialed access on an exit device instead of a key cylinder - what can I use in place of a mechanical night latch trim?
Two Grade 1 electronic exit trims cover that. The Schlage CO-100-993M-70-KP is a standalone electronic mortise exit device trim with a keypad reader in classroom/storeroom function, programmed at the door. The Schlage XE360EW22S is a Grade 1 wireless exit trim with a Bluetooth and NFC mobile reader and an interior pushbutton LED indicator, built for the Von Duprin 22 surface vertical rod device. The Stanley QET270 remains the mechanical route, using a conventional cylinder you specify.
6) What is the difference between the Stanley QET270 exit trim and the Schlage CO-100 electronic exit device trim?
Both are Grade 1 exit device trim, but they control access differently. The Stanley QET270 is a mechanical night latch lever trim (ANSI 03) shipped less cylinder, so the lever stays locked and a key you supply retracts the latch. The Schlage CO-100-993M-70-KP is a standalone electronic mortise exit device trim with a keypad reader in classroom/storeroom function, so credentials are managed at the keypad rather than through a key cylinder. Choose the QET270 when the opening keys into an existing master key system and the CO-100 when you want to issue and revoke codes without rekeying.
7) Will the Schlage XE360EW22S work as a substitute for Stanley QET270 trim on a narrow stile aluminum door?
They are matched to different devices. The Stanley QET270 is narrow stile exit trim designed for Stanley QED200 Series exit devices. The Schlage XE360EW22S is specified for the Von Duprin 22 surface vertical rod device and lists a 1-3/4 inch door thickness. Confirm the exit device already on the opening before treating one as a replacement for the other.
8) Is the Stanley QET270 trim heavy duty enough for a school or hospital exit door?
It is a Grade 1 commercial trim, the top ANSI/BHMA durability tier, and Stanley lists it for classrooms, administrative offices, hospitals and clinics, retail, and government buildings. For a high-cycle exterior exit on a school, that grade is what a spec writer is usually asking for.
9) What lever styles and finishes do I have to pick when ordering the QET270?
Two choices on the order. Lever design: A Slate, E Sierra, or M Summit. Finish: 605 bright brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 626 satin chrome, or 690 painted duranodic bronze. All four finishes are offered in each of the three lever designs, so 626 satin chrome with the Summit lever is a real combination if that is what matches your other openings.
10) Can the Schlage CO-100 or XE360 trim replace a Stanley QET270 on a QED200 device?
Not as a drop-in. The QET270 is the trim matched to Stanley's QED200 Series. The Schlage XE360EW22S is listed for the Von Duprin 22 SVR device, and the CO-100 shown here is a mortise exit device trim. Swapping brands of trim means matching the device it was built for.
11) Which Grade 1 exit trim gives the most finish and lever design choices for matching existing hardware?
The Stanley QET270 is the one built around appearance options: three lever designs, Slate (A), Sierra (E) and Summit (M), each in 605 bright brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 626 satin chrome and 690 painted duranodic bronze. The Schlage CO-100-993M-70-KP and XE360EW22S are electronic trims whose reader hardware defines the face of the trim, so they are chosen on access control function rather than lever style.
12) For a school corridor, should I spec the Stanley QET270 or an electronic classroom/storeroom exit trim?
All three are Grade 1. The Stanley QET270 in ANSI 03 keeps the lever always locked with key entry, which behaves like a storeroom function and suits a campus already on one key system. If the school wants to change access without rekeying, the Schlage CO-100-993M-70-KP is a keypad classroom/storeroom trim and the Schlage XE360EW22S is a wireless classroom/storeroom trim with mobile credentials, both rated for 1-3/4 inch doors.
13) What is the QET270 made of?
Brass or bronze base material, which is why it holds up on high-traffic openings and why the plated finishes (605 bright brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 626 satin chrome) wear well outdoors.
