Metallics SCT6315V – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can one SCT6315V staple hold more than one run of romex?
Yes. It's a three-wire stacking staple, so a single fastener secures up to three NM cable runs stacked rather than requiring a separate staple per run. That's the reason to choose it over a standard single-cable staple when you've got multiple homeruns following the same stud.
2) Are Metallics SCT6315V cable staples made in the USA and Buy American compliant?
Country of origin is the United States, and the SCT6315V is flagged both Buy American compliant and ARRA compliant. For federal, state, school, or other publicly funded electrical work with domestic sourcing requirements on the spec, that covers the fastener line item.
3) What is the Metallics SCT6315V staple used for?
The SCT6315V is a plastic stacking staple for securing NM (nonmetallic sheathed) cable, built to hold up to three wire runs in a stacked arrangement off a single fastening point. It's an electrical rough-in fastener, so it goes in during framing when you're running romex along studs and joists and need the runs held clear of each other.
4) How many staples come in a box of Metallics SCT6315V?
They ship 500 per box, and 500 count is also the order minimum, so the box is the smallest purchasable unit. The full box weighs 4.42 lbs.
5) Are these cable staples plastic or metal?
Plastic. The SCT6315V body is plastic rather than a bare metal strap, which is what installers generally want against NM cable jacket since there's no metal edge bearing directly on the sheathing. If your spec calls for a metal strap or a steel one-hole strap, this isn't that part.
6) How big is a box of 500 SCT6315V staples for shelf or van storage?
The box measures 7.25 in by 6.25 in by 6 in and weighs 4.42 lbs, so a 500-count carton fits a standard van bin or shop shelf without repacking.
7) Can I get the Metallics stacking staple in a different size or a smaller count?
The SCT6315V is the three-wire stacking staple in a 500-count box, and Metallics does offer other sizes and quantities in this staple line by request. If you need a different stack capacity or pack size, ask for it rather than assuming the 500-count box is the only configuration.
