Steel City P 60 1 AL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size opening does the Steel City P60 1 floor box cover plate fit?
The P60 1 is a 4 inch diameter round flush service cover plate with a 1 inch plug size, so it suits a floor box service opening taking a 4 inch round plate with a 1 inch threaded plug. Measure the existing plate, not the box body, when matching a replacement.
2) Is the Steel City P60 1 cover available in anything other than brass?
Two materials. Brass is model P 60 1 and aluminum is model P 60 1 AL. Both are the same 4 inch, 1 inch plug flush service plate, so the choice is cosmetic and corrosion related, not dimensional. Brass is the usual pick where the plate shows in finished flooring; aluminum is the lighter, lower cost option.
3) What is the closest brass floor box cover alternative to the Steel City P 60 1?
The Pass & Seymour TM1542 series brass floor box cover is the nearest brass-finish counterpart. Both are brass floor box covers; the Steel City P 60 1 is a flush service cover plate with a 4 inch diameter and a 1 inch plug size, while the Pass & Seymour cover is part of the TM1542 series and is tamper-resistant. Confirm the plug opening size and bolt pattern of the box already set in the slab before choosing between them.
4) I need a floor box cover that accepts audio/video connectors, not a plain plug cover. What are my options?
The Steel City P 60 1 is a flush service cover plate with a 1 inch plug opening, intended to close off a 4 inch round floor box rather than host AV terminations. For AV work, the Wiremold 828MAAP is a sheet metal audio/video adapter plate for the OmniBox series. Match the adapter plate to the OmniBox housing in the floor; the P 60 1 stays the right choice where the floor box only needs a flush brass or aluminum closure.
5) Do I get one plate per order, or a pack?
The P60 1 floor box cover plate is sold each, so quantity one is a single plate. Order one per floor service point you are covering.
6) Where is the Steel City P60 1 cover plate made?
Made in the United States, which matters on public and institutional jobs carrying domestic sourcing requirements on electrical materials.
