Sure-Loc BA-PH2 26 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Sure-Loc Basic paper holder suitable for a commercial restroom or multi-family common area?
It is specified as residential, intended for bathrooms and powder rooms. For a public or high-traffic restroom, look at a heavier commercial-grade holder instead. Inside an apartment unit it is fine; in a lobby or shared restroom it is under-spec'd.
2) What is the closest two-post equivalent to the Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder in another brand?
The Deltana 98C2001 is the closest match in form - it is a Classic double post toilet paper holder in Deltana's 98C Series, built in solid brass. The Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder is also a two-post design, made in zinc diecast, and comes in Vintage Bronze, 15 Satin Nickel, 26 Polished Chrome and FBL Flat Black. So the substitution decision is mainly material and finish family rather than mounting style.
3) What is the Sure-Loc Basic paper holder made of?
Zinc diecast, both body and substrate, with a plated or painted finish over it. That is a different build from solid brass holders like the Deltana 88DTPH or the 98C Series double post, which are solid brass. For a damp bath or a coastal install, brass holds up better; for a standard interior bathroom zinc diecast is the usual builder-grade choice.
4) Two-post versus single-post toilet paper holder - which should I use?
A 2-post holder like the Sure-Loc Basic carries a spring roller between two separate wall-mounted posts, so both ends are supported and the roller lifts out for reloading. A single post, such as the Deltana 55D2001 or BBN2001, mounts on one bracket and the roll slides on from the open end, which is quicker to reload but needs clearance on that side. In a tight powder room with a wall or vanity beside the roll, the 2-post works where a single post will not.
5) For a multi-unit turn where rollers get broken, is there a paper holder with a replaceable roller instead of the Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post?
The Orca Hardware 2752 in the 27-Cypress Series and the Orca Hardware 4852 Blakely in the 48-Blakely Series are both supplied with a plastic tube, which is the wear part a tenant typically snaps. The Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder is a two-post holder in zinc diecast, finished in Vintage Bronze, Satin Nickel, Polished Chrome or Flat Black.
6) What is the difference between the Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder and a bar-style paper holder like the Emtek Modern Brass?
The Emtek Modern Brass Paper Holder - Bar Style holds the roll on an open bar rather than between two posts, so the roll slides on and off the end without removing a spindle. The Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder uses two posts with a roller between them. Emtek offers the bar style across several bath hardware families, including Traditional Brass, Transitional Brass and Sandcast Bronze, if the rest of the bathroom trim is in one of those lines.
7) Is a Euro-style paper holder such as the Orca 3655 a direct substitute for the Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder?
Not a like-for-like swap. The Orca Hardware 3655 Swirl Euro and the Orca Hardware 5255 Ripple Euro are Euro-style holders in the 36-Swirl and 52-Ripple series, a different carrier design and decorative treatment from the two-post Sure-Loc Basic. They will hold a standard roll, but the mounting footprint and look differ, so they suit a fresh bathroom rather than matching existing Sure-Loc Basic towel bars, rings and robe hooks.
8) I need a solid brass paper holder for a high-end powder room - what are the alternatives to the Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post?
Solid brass options include the Deltana 88DTPH in the 88 Series, the Deltana 55D2001 single post in the 55D Series and the Deltana 98C2001 Classic double post in the 98C Series. The Sure-Loc Basic 2-Post Paper Holder is zinc diecast and specified for residential bathrooms and powder rooms, so pick by the substrate the spec calls for.
9) What else can I order to match this paper holder across a bathroom?
Sure-Loc builds the Basic series as a full bath set: towel bars, towel rings, paper holders and robe hooks, all offered in the same four finishes. Order them together and the plating matches lot to lot better than assembling pieces from different lines.
