Sure-Loc SM-TB9 15 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What lengths does the Sure-Loc Somma towel bar come in?
Two lengths: 24 inch and 9 inch. The 24 inch is the standard bath towel bar for a bath sheet or two hand towels; the 9 inch works as a hand towel bar in a powder room, next to a vanity, or on the narrow wall beside a shower where a full bar won't fit. Both lengths come in all four finishes.
2) Is the Sure-Loc Somma towel bar suitable for a commercial restroom?
No. Sure-Loc classifies the Somma towel bar as residential bath hardware, so it's intended for household bathrooms, guest suites, powder rooms, and multi-family units rather than public or high traffic commercial washrooms. For a commercial restroom you want a heavy gauge institutional accessory line instead.
3) What is the closest 24 inch towel bar alternative to the Sure-Loc Somma if I need a different look?
The Sure-Loc Somma towel bar is offered in a 24 inch length, and two other 24 inch bars cover the same span: the Delaney Congaree 200 Series 24 inch Towel Bar Set and the Orca Hardware Camano 24 inch Towel Bar Set. All three hang a standard bath towel over a 24 inch bar; the difference is styling family, with the Somma drawn from Sure-Loc's Ridgecrest collection.
4) I need a towel bar shorter than 24 inches for a powder room - what are my options?
The Sure-Loc Somma towel bar comes in a 9 inch length in addition to 24 inch, which suits a powder room or half bath. If you need an intermediate span, Deltana offers the 88TB12 at 12 inches and several 18 inch bars including the 55D2002/18, the 98C2002/18 Classic, and the BBN2002/18.
5) If I want to hang two towels in the same wall space, is there an alternative to the Sure-Loc Somma towel bar?
The Sure-Loc Somma is a single-bar towel bar. For two bars on one set of posts, look at the Emtek Traditional Brass Double Towel Bar or the Emtek Sandcast Bronze Brass Double Towel Bar, both of which carry two bars in one mounting footprint.
6) Which towel bar products look like a substitute for the Sure-Loc Somma but will not give me a complete assembly?
Two items in the same aisle are partial assemblies rather than full bars. The Delaney Cascade 300 Series is sold as a towel bar only in a square profile, and the Delaney Denali 1100 Series is sold as a towel bar post only. The Sure-Loc Somma towel bar is ordered as a towel bar by finish and length, so if you are replacing a whole unit, compare it against complete sets such as the Delaney Acadia 900 Series Towel Bar Set or the Orca Hardware 48 Series Blakely Towel Bar Set.
7) What finishes is the Somma Series towel bar available in?
Four finishes: 15 Satin Nickel, 26 Polished Chrome, FBL Flat Black, and SB Satin Brass. The 15 and 26 codes are the standard BHMA finish designations, so satin nickel and polished chrome bath pieces will read the same as 15 and 26 door hardware elsewhere in the house.
8) Will the Somma towel bar match my other Sure-Loc bath accessories?
It belongs to Sure-Loc's Ridgecrest collection in the Somma Series, so it is built to coordinate with the other Ridgecrest washroom pieces such as robe hooks, towel rings, and paper holders. If you are outfitting a whole bath, order the companion pieces in the same finish code (15, 26, FBL, or SB) and the styling lines up.
9) I'm outfitting apartment units, is this a good fit for multi-family turns?
Yes, multi-family residential is one of the stated applications. The practical advantage on a turn is standardization: one series, two lengths, four finishes, so you can spec the 24 inch for the main bath and the 9 inch for the half bath across every unit and keep one finish running through the whole property.
10) What are the alternatives to the Sure-Loc Somma towel bar if I want a different look or length?
A few directions. For solid brass in shorter runs, Deltana offers the 88 Series 12 inch bar and the 55D, 98C Classic, and BBN Series 18 inch bars. For a square, contemporary profile, the Delaney Cascade 300 Series towel bar is sold as bar only. Orca's Camano 24 inch set is a direct length match to the 24 inch Somma. And if you need two rails in one footprint, Emtek makes double towel bars in Traditional Brass and Sandcast Bronze.
11) For a multi-family bath package, how does the Sure-Loc Somma towel bar compare to solid brass towel bars?
The Sure-Loc Somma towel bar is a residential bath accessory in the Ridgecrest collection, ordered in satin nickel, polished chrome, flat black, or satin brass. Deltana's bars are specified as solid brass construction, including the 88TB12 in the 88 Series and the 55D2002/18 in the 55D Series. If your package is standardizing on one finish across many units, the Somma covers four finishes in two lengths; if brass material is the driver, the Deltana bars state it.
12) If I want a decorative or twisted-style towel bar instead of the clean lines of the Sure-Loc Somma, what should I look at?
The Sure-Loc Somma Series towel bar is styled with clean lines meant to suit traditional through contemporary baths. For a more ornamental profile, Orca Hardware offers the 36 Series Swirl Towel Bar Set and the 27 Series Swirl Towel Bar Set, and Emtek offers the Transitional Brass Towel Bar and the Modern Brass Towel Bar for a defined style direction.
13) Does this towel bar need any wiring or batteries?
None. The Somma towel bar is a non-electronic, mechanically mounted accessory, so it goes up with its mounting posts and hardware only. No wiring, no power, nothing to fail electrically.
14) Can I replace just the bar or just a post if one gets damaged?
The Somma is sold as a complete towel bar by length and finish, not as separate bar and post components. If you specifically need component-level replacement, Delaney handles it that way: the Cascade 300 Series is offered as towel bar only and the Denali 1100 Series as towel bar post only.
15) Does the Somma towel bar work with traditional or only modern bathrooms?
The Somma styling is intentionally middle of the road, clean lines meant to sit with anything from traditional to contemporary decor. Finish does most of the work here: Satin Brass and Polished Chrome lean traditional, Flat Black reads contemporary, and Satin Nickel goes either way.
