Sure-Loc SM-TR1 15 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Sure-Loc Somma towel ring rated for commercial washrooms or just homes?
It is classified residential. For a school, hotel back-of-house, or public restroom you want commercial-grade bath accessories instead. It is a reasonable fit for apartments, condos, and rental units, where the traffic is residential even if the owner is a property manager.
2) Will this towel ring match the rest of my Sure-Loc bath set?
If the other pieces are Sure-Loc Somma Series from the Ridgecrest Collection, yes, that is the point of the collection. Order the same finish code across the towel bar, ring, and paper holder. Mixing in a different Sure-Loc collection will usually read as a mismatch even when the finish name is the same.
3) Is there a solid brass alternative to the Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest towel ring?
Yes. The Sure-Loc Somma Series Towel Ring is a residential bath accessory offered in satin nickel, polished chrome, flat black, and satin brass. If the specification calls out solid brass material, the Deltana 88TR6 in the 88 Series and the Deltana 98C2008 in the 98C Series are both described as solid brass 6 inch towel rings, and Emtek offers brass bath hardware towel rings in its Modern Brass, Traditional, and Transitional bath hardware lines.
4) What towel ring can I use instead of the Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest if I need a published ring diameter for a narrow wall space?
The Sure-Loc Somma Series Towel Ring is specified by collection and finish rather than by a stated ring size. If the wall area between a vanity and a door casing forces you to work to a dimension, Deltana publishes sizes on several of its towel rings: the 88TR6 is a 6 inch ring in the 88 Series, the 98C2008 is a 6 inch ring in the 98C Series, the BBN2008 is 6-1/4 inch, and the BBS2008 is 6-1/2 inch. All four are solid brass or brass-series bath accessories, so they cover the same wall-mounted towel ring role.
5) What are the alternatives to the Sure-Loc Somma towel ring if I want solid brass?
Deltana's towel rings are the solid brass route: the 88TR6 is a 6 inch ring in the 88 Series, the 98C2008 is a 6 inch classic in the 98C Series, and the BBS2008 runs 6-1/2 inches. Emtek is the other brass option, with separate Modern, Traditional, Transitional, and Sandcast Bronze bath hardware lines so you can match a door lever family.
6) I am outfitting a whole building of apartment baths with one towel ring style. What are the comparable single-series options to the Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest?
The Sure-Loc Somma Series Towel Ring belongs to the Ridgecrest Collection, which is built to coordinate with companion Ridgecrest bath hardware, so one collection covers the whole unit. Other brands take the same series approach: Delaney offers the Congaree 200 Series, Cascade 300 Series, Acadia 900 Series, and Denali 1100 Series towel rings, and Orca Hardware offers the 2760 Cypress, 3660 Swirl, 4860 Blakely, and 9160 Waldron. Picking one series and staying in it is what keeps the trim matching across units.
7) Does switching from the Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest towel ring to another brand change the installation?
All of these are wall-mounted, fully mechanical towel rings with no wiring or power source, so the work is the same category of job: locate a stud or set an anchor, mount the post, and hang the ring. The Sure-Loc Somma Series Towel Ring is described as a straightforward wall-mounted bath accessory, and peers such as the Delaney Congaree 200 Series, the Orca 4860 Blakely, and the Deltana 88TR6 are the same style of fixture. Where they differ is post footprint and ring size, so confirm the new mounting hole pattern before reusing existing anchors from a prior ring.
8) Does this towel ring need any wiring or power?
No. It is a fully mechanical, non-electronic fixture, so there is nothing to wire and no batteries to service. Wall mount only, using the hardware supplied with it.
9) Towel ring or towel bar for a small powder room?
A ring takes far less wall than a bar and suits a powder room or the space beside a vanity where a hand towel is all that hangs. Go to a bar when a bath towel needs to spread out to dry. The Somma Ridgecrest ring is aimed at powder rooms, primary suite washrooms, and bath remodels, and the collection has coordinating pieces so you can use both in the same room.
10) The Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest towel ring is residential. What do I use for a commercial washroom?
The Sure-Loc Somma Series Towel Ring is classified as residential bath hardware and is aimed at bathrooms, powder rooms, multi-family units, and rental properties. For a public or high-traffic commercial washroom you want an accessory rated for that duty rather than a residential ring; within residential-style brass alternatives, the Deltana 88TR6 and 98C2008 are solid brass constructions if you are simply after heavier material for a light-commercial hospitality bath.
11) Can I mix a Sure-Loc Somma Ridgecrest towel ring with a Delaney or Orca towel bar in the same bathroom?
Mechanically yes, since all are independently wall-mounted accessories, but the styling will not line up. The Somma Series Towel Ring is part of the Ridgecrest Collection specifically so it coordinates with matching Sure-Loc bath hardware. Delaney's rings belong to their own series such as Congaree 200 and Denali 1100, and Orca's belong to the 27-Cypress and 91-Waldron series. Each brand's series has its own post shape and finish tone, so keep a single series across the room if appearance matters.
