5) Will the 150W ED17 metal halide lamp physically fit a smaller enclosed fixture?
ED17 is the compact 150W envelope and it is considerably shorter and narrower than the ED28 used on the 400W lamp, so it suits wall packs, canopies and small flood housings. Checking the fixture's lamp cavity against an ED17 is the step to take; an ED28 will not go in a housing cut for an ED17 regardless of socket type, since mogul and medium bases are not interchangeable either.
