A thumbturn cylinder turns the lock by hand from the inside with no key, so it goes on the interior face of a storefront door for egress or after-hours locking. The TH1100-ZT is the thumbturn version. If you need key operation from that side instead, you want a keyed mortise cylinder of the same 1 inch length with the same Adams Rite cam. Many storefront doors use one of each: keyed outside, thumbturn inside.
