Thomas & Betts 5234AL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What sizes does the Thomas & Betts straight connector come in?
Two trade sizes are offered: 1 inch, which is part number 5234AL, and 2-1/2 inch, part number 147AL. Order by the trade size of the conduit or cable you are terminating, since the part numbers are not interchangeable between the two.
2) I need a 2-1/2 inch straight connector - which Thomas & Betts part number do I order?
147AL is the 2-1/2 inch straight connector. The 1 inch version of the same connector is 5234AL, so don't cross the two on a purchase order.
3) Where can I get the full dimensional and application data for the 5234AL connector?
Thomas & Betts publishes a spec sheet for the 5234AL, and it's linked directly from the product information. That sheet is the place to confirm dimensional detail and listed applications before you commit the fitting to a specific raceway or enclosure prep.
4) Is this Thomas & Betts fitting an electrical item or a plumbing fitting?
It is electrical. The 5234AL and 147AL are straight connectors for electrical work, not pipe fittings, so specify them off an electrical raceway schedule rather than a plumbing one.
