1) Is this threaded rod plated or galvanized for outdoor or damp use?
No. The TRS6/6PL is plain finish rod, meaning bare uncoated steel. Keep it to dry interior work such as hanging conduit, strut, cable tray or fixtures inside conditioned space. For damp, exterior or corrosive locations you want an electro-galvanized, hot dip galvanized or stainless 1/4-20 rod instead.
2) Do nuts, washers or hanger hardware come with this 1/4-20 threaded rod?
Rod only. The TRS6/6PL comes as bare 1/4-20 rod with no nuts, washers, couplings, rod hangers or anchors. Order your 1/4-20 hex nuts, flat washers, and whatever top attachment you are using (beam clamp, concrete anchor, or ceiling flange) separately.
3) Can I use 1/4-20 threaded rod to hang electrical conduit and lighting fixtures?
Yes, that is the usual job for it. 1/4-20 plain rod is the common size for suspending lightweight runs, strut channel, cable tray hangers and lay-in or industrial light fixtures indoors. For heavier mechanical loads or long unsupported drops, electricians and mechanical contractors step up to 3/8-16 or 1/2-13 rod. Match the rod diameter to the hanger and anchor rating on your drawing rather than to the rod alone.
4) Will 1/4-20 rod thread into a 1/4 inch rod coupling or strut nut?
Yes, provided the mating part is also 1/4-20. That is the standard coarse thread for 1/4 inch rod, so standard 1/4-20 couplings, channel nuts, swivel hangers and threaded inserts will take it. The only mismatch to watch for is a 1/4-28 fine thread part, which will not run on this rod.
