1) Is the TRS810A rod zinc plated or galvanized, and can I use it outdoors?
It is steel with a zinc finish (the "St-zn" in the description). Zinc plating is an indoor and dry-location coating; for exposed exterior, wet, or corrosive runs, specify hot-dip galvanized or stainless rod instead.
2) Can I cut the 10 foot rod down to shorter drops?
Yes, continuous threaded rod is meant to be field cut. Cut with a bandsaw, chop saw with an abrasive wheel, or bolt cutter, then dress the end with a file or chase it with a 3/8-16 nut so the threads start clean. Cutting the zinc plating exposes bare steel at the cut, so keep cut ends in dry interior locations or touch them up.
3) What do I need to order with threaded rod to finish a hanging job?
The bundle is bare rod only. Plan on 3/8-16 hex nuts and washers at each connection, plus whatever anchors the load to structure, beam clamps, concrete drop-in or wedge anchors with 3/8-16 internal thread, or ceiling flange plates. Rod couplings let you splice drops longer than 10 feet.
