Metallics JSMXP35 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics JSMXP35 used for?
It's a steel deck anchor with a swivel head, used to hang threaded rod from metal deck. The swivel head lets the rod hang plumb even though the deck flute is sloped, which is how electricians and mechanical trades support conduit, strut, and pipe off the underside of a steel deck. Finish is zinc plated steel.
2) What is the exact part number to order for the Metallics swivel head deck anchor?
Order Metallics part number JSMXP35. That is the manufacturer part number for the zinc plated steel threaded rod deck anchor with the swivel head, and there is a single model on it, so no option selection is required.
3) Does a swivel head deck anchor replace a straight rod hanger on metal deck?
It solves a different problem. A fixed or straight hanger pulls the rod out of plumb when it is fastened to the angled face of a deck flute; the JSMXP35's swivel head pivots so the rod drops vertically from that same angled surface. If you are fastening to a flat surface such as the underside of a concrete slab, a swivel is not needed. Use the swivel version wherever the attachment surface is sloped.
4) How is the Metallics JSMXP35 deck anchor packaged, and is it sold individually?
The JSMXP35 is packaged in a jar, and it is sold by the piece, so you can order the exact count a job needs rather than a full carton.
