Metallics DRT12DFD3388 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do nuts and washers come with the Metallics DRT12DFD3388 threaded rod?
The pack is rod only, ten pieces of 1/4-20 x 12 inch. You order your own 1/4-20 hex nuts, flat washers, beam clamps, rod couplings, or conduit hangers separately to complete the drop.
2) Will a 1/4-20 rod work in a 3/8-16 hanger or beam clamp?
No. A 1/4-20 rod will not thread into a 3/8-16 tapped beam clamp, coupling, or hanger, and it will rattle loose in a 3/8 inch rod hole. Match the rod to the tapped hole in your clamp or hanger: this one needs 1/4-20 prep. If your strut clamps and beam clamps are tapped 3/8-16, order 3/8-16 rod instead.
3) How many rods come in a pack of Metallics DRT12DFD3388?
Ten rods per pack. Each is a 1/4-20 x 12 inch rod, so one pack covers ten drop points, which is typically enough for a short run of conduit or strut hanger drops before you need to reorder.
4) What is the Metallics 1/4-20 x 12 inch threaded rod used for on an electrical job?
It is a hanger rod for suspending electrical work from structure: conduit hangers, strut and channel, cable tray, junction boxes, and light fixtures. The 1/4-20 size is the lightest of the common hanger diameters, so it suits single small-trade conduit runs and fixture drops rather than heavy multi-run trapeze assemblies.
5) What is the Metallics part number for the 1/4-20 x 12 inch threaded rod 10 pack?
Metallics catalogs it as DRT12DFD3388. That is the number to quote when you need the 1/4-20 x 12 inch rod in the ten-piece pack rather than a different diameter or length.
