Metallics DRT36AC – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many rods come in a pack of Metallics DRT36AC?
Ten rods per pack. The DRT36AC is sold as a 10 piece assembly of 1/4-20 x 36 inch rod, which is the quantity most electricians order for a run of conduit or fixture hangers rather than buying singles.
2) Can I cut the 36 inch threaded rod down to shorter drop lengths?
Yes. All-thread is threaded along its full 36 inch length, so you can cut it to whatever drop you need on site and still thread a nut onto the cut end. Chamfer or chase the cut end so the nut starts clean.
3) Do nuts, washers or hanger hardware come with the Metallics DRT36AC rods?
The DRT36AC ships as rod only, ten pieces of 1/4-20 x 36 inch. Order your 1/4-20 hex nuts, flat washers, rod couplings and whatever anchor or beam clamp the deck calls for separately.
4) What is 1/4-20 threaded rod used for on an electrical job?
It is the standard hanger rod for light duty electrical work: suspending strut channel, conduit hangers, junction boxes, cable tray droppers and lay-in or pendant fixtures from a concrete or steel deck. The DRT36AC pack of ten 36 inch rods covers a typical ceiling drop run.
