Klein Tools 80006 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the screwdrivers and pliers in the Klein 80006 kit be used on live circuits?
No. The tools in the 80006 kit are not insulated and must not be used on or near live electrical circuits. If you need to work energized, you need separately rated 1000V insulated tools. Also, don't use the screwdrivers to pry or chisel, and wear approved eye protection.
2) Is the belt in the Klein 80006 kit safe to use for climbing or as a back support?
No. The 5204 belt included is a lightweight utility belt for carrying the pouch and tools only. It is not an occupational protective belt, not for fall arrest, and not a back support. Anyone working at height needs a separate rated harness and positioning belt.
3) Can I buy the pouch or belt from the Klein 80006 kit separately if one wears out?
The parts carry their own Klein catalog numbers, so a replacement is ordered by that number rather than by the kit: 5119 for the 4-pocket leather pouch, 5204 for the lightweight utility belt, 603-4 and 605-4 for the screwdrivers, D2000-9NE for the side cutting pliers, and 11055 for the Klein-Kurve wire stripper. Useful for an MRO stockroom standardizing replacements across a crew.
4) Is this Klein kit enough for trim-out and device work, or do I need more tools?
The 80006 is built as a trim-out kit: pliers, stripper, and two screwdrivers cover setting devices, making up boxes, and trimming out receptacles and switches. It does not include a voltage tester, tape measure, nut drivers, or a level, so a tech doing rough-in or troubleshooting will carry those separately. As a grab-and-go belt setup for finish work it is complete on its own.
5) What screwdriver tips and shank lengths are in the Klein 80006 kit?
Two short drivers: a #2 Phillips with a 4-inch (10.2 cm) round shank, Cat. No. 603-4, and a 1/4-inch (6.4 mm) cabinet-tip slotted driver on a 4-inch (10.2 cm) shank, Cat. No. 605-4. The 4-inch shanks are the stubby length that works inside a box or panel where a full-length driver won't clear. The 1/4-inch cabinet tip is the parallel-sided slotted tip for terminal screws recessed in a counterbore.
6) How heavy is the Klein 80006 kit on the belt all day?
The whole kit weighs 2.8 lb (1.3 kg), so a worn setup is light enough for a full shift of finish work. Packed, it measures 11.6 by 6.8 by 2.9 inches, which fits a van bin or gang box without taking much room.
7) Is the pouch in the Klein 80006 leather or nylon, and how many pockets?
Leather, riveted construction, with 4 pockets, Cat. No. 5119. Leather holds its shape and resists tear-out at the pocket mouths better than fabric when you are dropping pliers in and out all day.
8) Are the tools in the Klein 80006 kit made in the USA?
Yes, the 80006 kit is listed as Made in USA.
