That is the point of the compression design. The Topaz 252M family is a compression-type coupling for RMC and IMC, so it joins two conduit ends mechanically instead of relying on field-cut threads. Useful when you are cutting into an existing run or finishing a length in place and you don't have a threader on site. If your job spec calls for threaded rigid couplings on that run, this is the wrong fitting and you want a threaded rigid coupling instead.
2) Can I use this coupling on EMT, or is it rigid only?
