TOTO TCU442CRE#01 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which TOTO toilet does the TCU442CRE#01 Nexus tank lid fit?
The TCU442CRE#01 is TOTO's china tank lid for the two-piece Nexus 1.28 gallon-per-flush toilet. Tank lids are matched to a specific tank casting, not to a model family in general, so the way to confirm the fit is to read the tank number stamped inside your own tank (usually on the back wall or under the lid) and order the lid that carries that tank's part number. Order it by the MPN TCU442CRE#01 in cotton white (#01) so the glaze matches the bowl and tank you already have.
2) Is the TOTO TCU442CRE#01 a full tank or just the lid?
Lid only. The TCU442CRE#01 is the vitreous china cover that sits on top of a two-piece Nexus 1.28 gpf tank, sold as a replacement part. It does not include the tank, the fill valve, the flush valve, or the trip lever, so if the tank body itself is cracked this is not the part that fixes it.
3) I broke the lid on a TOTO Nexus toilet, can I just buy a replacement lid instead of a whole new toilet?
Yes, and that is what this part is for. TOTO sells the Nexus china tank lid on its own as TCU442CRE#01, so a dropped or cracked cover on a two-piece Nexus 1.28 gpf toilet is a parts replacement, not a fixture replacement. For property managers running a lot of identical units, ordering the lid by part number keeps the white glaze consistent across the building rather than leaving one bathroom with an off-color aftermarket cover.
4) Will a universal or aftermarket toilet tank lid work in place of the TOTO Nexus lid?
No. There is no universal toilet tank lid. The lid seats on the rim of one specific tank casting, and TOTO's two-piece Nexus 1.28 gpf tank has its own footprint and glaze, so a generic cover will either rock, overhang, or sit visibly off-white against the tank. The TCU442CRE#01 is the TOTO china lid made for that tank.
