TOTO TET2GBIA33#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO TET2GBIA33#SS, and what does it actually do?
It's a TOTO concealed electronic flush valve for a toilet, rated at 1.6 gallons per flush. The valve body mounts behind the wall with only the sensor plate exposed, and it's the flushing device itself, not a bowl. You supply the toilet separately and order the valve to match the fixture's flush rate.
2) Can I use the TOTO TET2GBIA33#SS flush valve on a urinal?
No. This one is built for toilet service at 1.6 gpf. Urinals run at far lower flush volumes and take a urinal-specific valve, so putting a 1.6 gallon toilet valve on a urinal will over-flush the fixture. Order TOTO's urinal EFV instead.
3) Will a 1.6 gpf flush valve work with my 1.28 gpf high-efficiency toilet?
No, match the valve to the bowl. The TET2GBIA33#SS is a 1.6 gallon per flush valve, and a bowl engineered for 1.28 gpf will get more water than its trapway and jet were designed around. For a 1.28 gpf HET, order the 1.28 version of the TOTO EFV rather than this one.
4) Does a concealed flush valve need wall access for service, or is it sealed in?
Concealed means the valve body sits inside the wall or chase behind the fixture, with the sensor at the finished face. Plan an access panel or a chase you can get into, because the solenoid, filter and stop are all behind the wall on this type. If your job has no room behind the wall, an exposed flushometer is the better choice.
5) Is the TOTO TET2GBIA33#SS a manual handle flushometer or a touchless sensor valve?
Touchless. It's an electronic flush valve (EFV), so flushing is sensor-initiated rather than by a handle. That's the usual pick for high-traffic public restrooms in schools, airports and healthcare where hand contact is the issue. If you want a lever, you want a manual flushometer instead.
6) What part number do I give my supplier for the TOTO concealed 1.6 gpf toilet flush valve?
TET2GBIA33#SS is the full TOTO ordering number. The #SS suffix is the finish code, so quote the number complete, including the suffix, or you risk getting a different trim finish on the exposed sensor plate.
7) If I'm standardizing restrooms across a building, does this valve let me keep one flush rate?
It does for 1.6 gpf openings. Every unit is the same concealed toilet valve at 1.6 gallons per flush in a single trim finish, so there is no size or rate to sort out fixture by fixture. Where a building mixes 1.6 gpf and 1.28 gpf bowls, you'll still need the matching valve for each rate.
