TOTO THP4955#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP4955 part - is it the trim escutcheon or the valve itself?
THP4955 is a service part only: an escutcheon (collar) with its gasket for a TOTO diverter/volume control trim. It is not a valve, not a cartridge, and not a complete trim kit. Order it when the existing collar is damaged, pitted, or the wall seal behind it is leaking, and the working valve stays in place.
2) Will the THP4955 collar fit any TOTO shower valve trim?
No. It is the collar for a TOTO diverter/volume control trim specifically, not a universal shower escutcheon. Pressure balance and thermostatic trims use their own THP part numbers. Pull the THP number off the trim you are replacing, or the model of the diverter/volume control, before ordering this one.
3) Does the TOTO THP4955 escutcheon come with the gasket, or do I have to buy the seal separately?
The gasket ships with it. The part is supplied as an escutcheon marked with gasket, so the wall seal that goes behind the collar is included and you do not need to source a separate O-ring or seal to reinstall it.
4) What finish is TOTO THP4955#BN?
The #BN suffix on TOTO part numbers is Brushed Nickel, so THP4955#BN is the brushed nickel version of the diverter/volume control collar. TOTO uses the same base number with a different suffix for other finishes, so match the suffix to the rest of your trim or the new collar will not blend with the handle and valve plate already on the wall.
5) I manage apartments with several TOTO showers - can I use this collar as a general repair part?
Only where the fixture is a TOTO diverter or volume control with brushed nickel trim. Escutcheon collars are model and finish specific, so one THP4955#BN does not cover a mixed fleet. If your buildings run more than one TOTO trim line, stock the matching THP collar per line rather than treating this as a common spare.
