Toto SP HANDLE ASSY, PRESSURE BAL THP4961#PN

It's a replacement handle assembly for a TOTO pressure balance shower valve trim, ordered under part number THP4961#PN. You're buying the handle assembly itself, not the valve body or the escutcheon, so it's the right call when the handle is broken, stripped, or missing and the rough-in valve behind the wall is still good.

Yes. The #PN suffix on a TOTO part number is the polished nickel finish code, so THP4961#PN is the polished nickel version of that handle assembly. If your other trim in the bath is chrome or brushed nickel, order the matching suffix instead so the shower handle doesn't sit a shade off from the tub spout and diverter.

No. THP4961 is built for a pressure balance valve, where one handle controls volume and temperature together off a balancing spool. A thermostatic trim uses a separate temperature handle with a calibrated stop and a different broach, so this handle won't index correctly on it. For a thermostatic valve you need the handle specified for that trim series.

That's the point of ordering a handle assembly like THP4961#PN. The handle comes off the valve stem on the finished side of the wall, so a property maintenance tech can swap a cracked or spinning handle with the trim plate in place and no drywall work, provided the pressure balance cartridge and valve body behind it are still sound. If water temperature is swinging, that's a cartridge problem and a new handle won't fix it.

No, it's the handle assembly only. Order the pressure balance cartridge and the trim plate separately if those are also worn or missing. For a full refresh on a leaking valve, plan on the cartridge plus this handle; for cosmetic damage only, the handle alone finishes the job.

Match the TOTO trim part number, not just the look. THP4961#PN is a specific service handle assembly tied to particular TOTO pressure balance trims, and TOTO handle broaches differ between series, so a handle from a neighboring collection can look nearly identical and still not seat. If you can pull the old handle, check for a stamped THP number on it, or identify the trim series from the escutcheon before ordering.

It works well as a shelf item if your TOTO pressure balance trims are standardized on the same series and the polished nickel finish. THP4961#PN is a single-finish part number, so a property running mixed finishes needs the corresponding suffix for each. Confirm the trim series on a sample room first, then buy depth on the one number rather than guessing across buildings.
