TOTO THU756 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Toto THU756 hardware kit for?
THU756 is the top mounting hinge plate kit for a Toto toilet seat. It's the hardware that fastens the seat and cover to the bowl from the top of the bowl rather than from underneath, so you can set the seat without reaching up behind the bowl. It's sold as a replacement part, so it's what you order when the original mounting plates or hinge hardware are cracked, corroded, or missing and the seat itself is still good.
2) Do I need to replace the whole Toto seat or can I just buy the mounting hardware?
Just the hardware. THU756 is the seat mounting hinge plate kit on its own, so a seat with good plastic but broken or seized mounting plates can be put back in service without buying a new seat and cover. If the seat body itself is cracked or the hinge barrels on the seat are broken, the plate kit won't fix it and you need a complete seat.
3) Does the Toto THU756 seat hardware mount from the top of the bowl?
Top mounting, yes. That's the point of the kit: the plates anchor from above the bowl deck, so a maintenance tech can change a seat in a tight stall or against a wall-hung fixture without getting a hand and a wrench underneath the china. For property managers doing seat swaps across a building, that's the difference between a two minute job and a knuckle-bleeder.
4) Is THU756 a Toto factory part or an aftermarket seat hinge?
Factory Toto. THU756 is Toto's own part number for the SS234 seat mounting hinge plate kit, which matters if you're standardizing seat hardware across a facility and want the plates to match the seat's hinge geometry exactly rather than fighting a universal kit.
