Klein Tools 55601 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much will the Klein Tools 55601 soft lunch cooler actually hold?
The 55601 Tradesman Pro soft cooler holds 12 quarts (11.4 L) across four compartments. The main insulated body takes the bulk of a day's food and drinks, there's a separate upper doghouse compartment so sandwiches or fruit don't get crushed, mesh side pockets, and a front zipper pocket for keys, napkins or medicine. Outside dimensions are 13 inches high, 12 inches wide and 9.5 inches long, so it sits in a truck footwell or behind a seat.
2) Will a soft cooler like this keep food cold through a full shift?
Klein's 55601 is rated to stay cool up to 12 hours, which covers a standard shift plus travel. That comes from a double-thick, leak-resistant insulated liner rather than rigid foam walls, so pack it with an ice pack and keep it out of direct sun. If you need multi-day cold retention or want to stack units in a truck bed, a hard-shell cooler is the better choice - the 55601 is not stackable.
3) Is this cooler tough enough to live in a work van or on a jobsite floor?
The shell is 1680d ballistic weave, the same heavy fabric Klein uses across the Tradesman Pro bags, and the bottom is fully molded so it can be set down on gravel, concrete or a wet truck bed without soaking through. Empty weight is 3.39 lbs. It's fabric, not a hard case, so it won't take being stood on or loaded under tools.
4) Does the Klein 55601 lunch cooler come with a shoulder strap or just a handle?
Both. The 55601 has a carry handle and a shoulder strap, so you can sling it over a shoulder when your hands are full of tools and a tool bag. Closure is a zipper on the main compartment and on the front pocket.
5) Can I buy these in bulk for a crew and will they all look the same?
The 55601 is a single-configuration item: one model number, 55601, in black and grey with orange trim. There are no size or color options to specify, so every unit ordered for a crew is identical, which makes it straightforward to issue as standard kit or include in a new-hire tool allowance.
