Trimco TRI-3652.626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is a 4-7/8 inch ASA strike and where does it get used?
The Trimco 3652 is the full-size commercial strike plate that mortises into a hollow metal or wood frame to receive the latch and deadbolt of a cylindrical or mortise lock. The 4-7/8 inch dimension is the plate length, and ASA (A115.2) is the standard frame prep it matches, which is the usual prep on commercial hollow metal frames. It is a replacement part, so you are buying the strike alone, not a lock.
2) What finishes does the Trimco 3652 strike come in, and can I match the rest of my openings?
Five finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 625 bright chrome, and 626 satin chrome. Those are standard BHMA finish numbers, so if your existing levers or mortise locks are marked 626 satin chrome, ordering the 626 strike matches across the building.
3) Is the Trimco 3652 strike suitable for commercial traffic, or is it a residential part?
It is a commercial-duty strike. Trimco lists the 3652 as commercial, and the 4-7/8 inch ASA format is the one specified on commercial hollow metal openings rather than residential wood frames.
4) I just need to replace a damaged strike plate on one door. Is this the right thing to order?
Yes, if the damaged plate is the long 4-7/8 inch commercial type. The 3652 is sold as a replacement strike, so a property manager swapping out a bent or worn plate can order it by finish and reuse the existing frame cutout. You are not replacing the lock, only the plate in the frame.
