Trimco TRI-AP612E-128.605 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Trimco AP612 ladder pull be mounted on a glass door?
Yes. The AP612 is ordered with either E-Mount or G-Mount, and G-Mount is the glass-door option; E-Mount covers metal and wood doors. The AP600 leather wrapped pulls are built with multiple mounting options for metal, wood and glass doors, so pick the mounting code that matches the leaf before you order.
2) Is the Trimco AP612 pull ADA compliant for a commercial entrance?
Yes, the AP612 is ADA compliant, and it is a commercial-rated pull. The 1 inch diameter bar with straight standoffs gives the graspable shape required on an accessible opening, which is why it shows up on office, hospitality, multifamily, retail and government projects.
3) What is the closest plain metal alternative to the Trimco AP612 leather wrapped ladder pull if the leather wrap is not wanted?
The Trimco AP612 is a 1 inch diameter straight-standoff ladder pull with radius ends and a hand-applied leather wrap in black, dark brown or light brown. For the same bar diameter without a wrap, the ABH AB3300 is a straight flat end pull handle at 1.00 inch diameter, and the Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight door pull in 1 inch round with through bolt mounting. Both give a bare metal bar profile; the AP612 differs in that the grip surface is wrapped leather over the metal core.
4) I need an offset pull rather than the straight standoffs on the Trimco AP612 - what else is available?
The AP612 uses straight standoffs with radius ends. If the opening needs the bar set away from the door face on an offset post, the ABH AB3310 is an offset flat end door pull and the ABH AB3330 is an offset round end pull with custom length options. From Ives, the 8169 is a C style offset solid door pull at 1 inch diameter and the 8145EZHD is a 45 degree offset pull. Deltana offers the SSPOBB24 24 inch back-to-back modern offset pulls and the SSPORBB24 round offset version.
5) What center-to-center lengths does the Trimco AP612 ladder pull come in?
Nine stock sizes: 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 and 96 inches. The AP600 series runs from 12 inches to beyond 9 feet, so if your elevation calls for something between or above the stock sizes it is made to order rather than off the shelf.
6) Can I get the leather wrap in a color other than black?
Three leather colors are offered on the AP612: black, dark brown and light brown. The wrap is hand-crafted and rated for both interior and exterior applications, so it can be used on a storefront entrance as well as an interior suite door.
7) What finish should I order to match the rest of my door hardware on a Trimco AP612?
Thirteen architectural finishes are stocked on the AP612: bright and satin stainless (316P, 316S, 629, 630), bright brass 605, satin brass 606, blackened satin brass 609, bright bronze 611, satin bronze 612, oil rubbed bronze 613, dark oxidized satin bronze 613E, matte black 622 and satin aluminum 628. Those are standard BHMA finish codes, so match to the code on the rest of the opening rather than to the name. Special finishes are available by quotation and may carry a minimum quantity.
8) What is the Trimco AP612 pull made of underneath the leather?
The bar and standoffs are stainless steel on the stocked AP612 configurations. The AP600 leather wrapped line is produced in stainless steel, bronze, brass or aluminum depending on the finish specified, with the leather wrapped over the metal bar.
9) Is the Cal-Royal PUL-175 an alternative to the Trimco AP612?
No. The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull, 3-1/2 inch height, in stainless steel - a small pull that mounts over a rim cylinder so the door can be pulled shut at a night latch. The Trimco AP612 is a full-length architectural ladder pull from 12 to 96 inches with straight standoffs and radius ends. They are not interchangeable, though both can appear on the same door.
10) If I only need a 12 inch pull on one side of an interior door, what are my options next to the Trimco AP612?
The AP612 is offered at 12 inches as its shortest center-to-center size, with a leather wrapped 1 inch bar and radius ends. A simpler single-side option at that length is the Deltana SSP1210, a 12 inch contemporary pull for single side mounting. The Sure-Loc PL-1KN is a knurled long pull, single-sided with thru-bolt mounting, if a textured grip is preferred over leather.
