Ideal Industries 31-642 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the IDEAL 31-642 Tuff-Rod repair kit used for?
The 31-642 is IDEAL Industries' repair kit for 1/4 inch Tuff-Rod fish rod, used to re-end a rod that has broken or lost a tip so the rod can be put back in service instead of replaced. It is sized specifically for 1/4 inch diameter Tuff-Rod, so confirm the rod you are repairing is the 1/4 inch size before ordering.
2) Will the IDEAL 31-642 kit work on 3/8 inch or larger fish rod?
No. The 31-642 kit is the 1/4 inch Tuff-Rod version, so the fittings match 1/4 inch rod only. For a heavier rod diameter you need the repair kit made for that size rather than this one.
3) What is the manufacturer part number to order the 1/4 inch Tuff-Rod repair kit?
Order it as IDEAL Industries 31-642. That single MPN covers the 1/4 inch Tuff-Rod repair kit, and there is no separate finish or length choice to specify.
