Minerallac 2403 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What cable size does the Minerallac 2403 two hole strap fit?
The Minerallac 2403 strap is sized for SEU service entrance cable in 3/0 and 4/0. It is not a general-purpose conduit strap, so if you are supporting smaller SEU or a different cable type you want a different size in the Minerallac strap line.
2) Why use a two hole strap instead of a one hole strap on service entrance cable?
Two fasteners spread the load and keep the cable from rotating or sagging between supports, which matters with heavy 3/0 and 4/0 SEU. The Minerallac 2403 uses two mounting holes for exactly that reason; single hole straps are meant for lighter runs.
3) Can this strap be used outdoors on an exterior service entrance run?
Yes. The 2403 is pre-galvanized steel with a silver finish, so it holds up on exterior meter-to-panel SEU runs as well as indoor work. In heavy coastal or corrosive-chemical environments, a stainless or hot-dip strap is the better call.
4) Will a 3/0 SEU strap work on 4/0 SEU cable?
On the Minerallac 2403, yes. The same strap is rated for both 3/0 and 4/0 SEU, so a property manager standardizing straps across services with either conductor size can stock one part number instead of two.
5) How much room does this SEU strap take up on the wall?
The 2403 measures 0.95 x 3.00 x 0.75 inches overall, with a stamped steel body 0.035 inch thick. That is a tight footprint for a 4/0 SEU support, so it works on narrow trim boards and beside meter sockets where clearance is short.
6) Is the Minerallac 2403 strap made in the USA?
Yes, it is manufactured in the United States. That matters on public and institutional jobs carrying domestic-sourcing requirements on electrical support hardware.
