The Ty-Rap TYHT high performance ties run from -40 to +150 degrees C continuously. That is what the Polyamide 4.6 material buys you over a standard nylon 6.6 tie, which is why these get used on engine bays, power generation equipment, and hot process piping where an ordinary tie goes brittle and lets go.
2) What lengths do Ty-Rap TYHT extra high temperature ties come in?
Five lengths: TYHT23M at 95mm, TYHT24M at 143mm, TYHT25M at 192mm, TYHT27M at 349mm, and TYHT28M at 367mm. All share the same 2.34mm band width and 0.91mm thickness, so the gun or tensioning tool setup does not change between sizes.
3) Why does the Ty-Rap use a stainless steel barb instead of a plastic pawl?
The locking element is a stainless steel barb in a steel nose closure, and it bites into the band rather than relying on a molded plastic tooth that softens at temperature. Rated minimum holding force is 80N. At 150 degrees C a nylon pawl is the first thing to creep, so on hot runs the steel barb is the reason the bundle stays tight.
4) Are these Ty-Rap ties reusable or do they have to be cut off?
They are a permanent, non-releasable fastener. The stainless barb does not disengage, so removal means cutting the tie. If you need to open and re-dress a bundle repeatedly, use a releasable tie rather than the TYHT series.
5) Are Ty-Rap TYHT ties halogen-free for use in tunnels, transit, or data halls?
Yes, the formulation is halogen-free, which is what spec writers call for in enclosed occupied spaces, rail and transit, and equipment rooms where smoke toxicity in a fire is the concern.
