A Velcro-style closure tightens to a bundle without the point loading a ratcheted nylon tie puts on a jacket, so it will not pinch a fiber and raise attenuation. The band is polyamide/polyethylene, 1.588mm thick, with a 178N minimum holding force to keep the wrap from creeping open.
2) Can these cable ties be used outdoors or in direct sunlight?
Keep the FO Series ties indoors. They are not UV stable per ASTM D6779 and the band is supplied untreated, so sunlight exposure will degrade the material over time. They are intended for data centers, telecom rooms, racks and panel wiring. For an exterior run, use a UV-rated black nylon cable tie instead.
3) Should I pick the 12.7mm or the 19.1mm wide hook and loop tie?
Width is about grip area, not capacity, since both widths are offered at each bundle diameter. The 12.7mm (1/2 inch) band is easier to route through tight rack fingers and vertical managers on smaller patch bundles.
